Discover Metric – Content Checker & Optimizer for Google Discover

Discover Metric – Content Checker & Optimizer for Google Discover

Description

Discover Metric is a WordPress plugin built for Google Discover optimization. It analyzes your articles against key ranking criteria used by Google Discover and gives you an actionable score with one click — right inside your editor.

Google Discover drives millions of visits to news sites, blogs, and content publishers every day. But most content fails to appear because it doesn’t meet Google’s quality signals. Discover Metric tells you exactly what to fix before you hit publish.

What Does It Do?

  • Instant Article Analysis — Click “Check Article” in the editor sidebar to get a Discover readiness score (0–100) with a detailed criteria breakdown.
  • Works on Drafts Too — Analyze unpublished drafts before publishing. The plugin sends article content directly for analysis, so you can optimize before going live.
  • 7 Key Criteria — Checks title length, meta description quality, OG image dimensions, lead paragraph clarity, heading structure, word count, and AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) score.
  • Works Everywhere — Compatible with Gutenberg (Block Editor), Classic Editor, Elementor, and Visual Composer / WPBakery.
  • AI-Powered Fixes (PRO) — One-click AI suggestions to rewrite titles, meta descriptions, leads, headings, and improve AEO with Answer Capsule, FAQ Schema, and structured data.
  • Apply Fixes Directly — AI suggestions can be applied directly to your editor with one click, or copied to clipboard.
  • Independent Meta Description Field — Built-in meta description editor with live character counter. Works standalone or syncs with Yoast SEO, Rank Math, or All in One SEO.
  • Structured Data JSON-LD — Automatic Article/NewsArticle schema generation, or save custom JSON-LD from AI suggestions.
  • FAQ Schema — Save AI-generated FAQ Page JSON-LD to your posts for rich results in search.
  • Discover Probability — Estimated likelihood of your article appearing in Google Discover, with confidence level.
  • E-E-A-T Analysis — Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness badge assessment.
  • AEO Score — Answer Engine Optimization scoring with sub-checks for Answer Capsule, Structured Data, FAQ Schema, and Meta Description Direct Answer.
  • Auto-Check on Publish — Optionally analyze every article automatically when published or updated.
  • Score History — Track how your articles improve over time with stored analysis results.
  • Credit-Based Usage — Free plan includes monthly credits for article checks. Upgrade for more checks and AI fix capabilities.

External Service

This plugin connects to the Discover Metric API at https://discovermetric.com/api/v1 to perform content analysis and generate AI fix suggestions. An API key is required.

When you click “Check Article”:
* For published articles: your article’s public URL is sent to the API for analysis.
* For draft articles: the article’s HTML content is sent directly for analysis.
* Analysis results are cached locally in post meta.

When you click “Fix” (AI Fix):
* The relevant article excerpt (title, meta description, lead paragraph, headings, or AEO status) and article context are sent to generate improvement suggestions.

No data is sent to the API unless you explicitly click the “Check Article” or “Fix” buttons. No user credentials or private data are transmitted beyond article content.

Screenshots

  • Article analysis with score gauge, Discover Probability, and E-E-A-T badges in the editor sidebar.

FAQ

What is Google Discover?

Google Discover is a personalized content feed that appears on the Google app and google.com homepage on mobile. It recommends articles to users based on their interests, without them searching for anything. It can drive significant traffic to publishers.

Where do I find the plugin settings after activation?

After activating the plugin, you will see a “Discover Metric” menu item in your WordPress admin sidebar (left side). Click on it to access the settings page where you can enter your API key and configure options.

How do I get an API key?

  1. Visit discovermetric.com and create a free account
  2. Navigate to your dashboard and go to API Keys
  3. Click “Generate New Key” — your key will start with cd_
  4. Copy the key and paste it into the Discover Metric settings in WordPress

Do I need a paid account?

No. The free plan includes monthly credits for article analysis. You can check articles and see detailed scores without paying. AI-powered fix suggestions require a PRO or Enterprise plan.

Can I analyze draft articles before publishing?

Yes! The plugin supports analyzing both published and draft articles. For published posts, it sends the public URL. For drafts, it sends the article content directly to the API for analysis. This way you can optimize your article before it goes live.

What criteria does it check?

The plugin checks 7 key criteria: title length, featured image size, lead paragraph clarity, heading structure, word count, meta description quality, and AEO score (Answer Engine Optimization with Answer Capsule, Structured Data, FAQ Schema, and Meta Description Direct Answer checks).

Does it work with page builders?

Yes. The plugin uses WordPress’s native meta box system, which is compatible with Gutenberg, Classic Editor, Elementor, Visual Composer, WPBakery, Beaver Builder, and any other editor that supports meta boxes.

Does it conflict with Yoast SEO, Rank Math, or AIOSEO?

No. Discover Metric automatically detects active SEO plugins and avoids outputting duplicate meta descriptions or Article structured data. The meta description field syncs with your SEO plugin. FAQ schema and other supplementary features remain available.

Where is the Check button in the editor?

The “Check Article” button appears in the sidebar panel on the right side of your editor. In Gutenberg, it also appears as a sidebar panel accessible from the top toolbar. The button is large and prominent — you cannot miss it.

Does it slow down my site?

No. The plugin only adds lightweight output on the frontend: a meta description tag (if no SEO plugin is active), Article JSON-LD structured data, and FAQ schema (if saved). No external scripts, styles, or API calls are made on the public-facing side.

Is my content sent to external servers?

Only when you click “Check Article” or “Fix” — the plugin sends article content to the Discover Metric API at discovermetric.com. No data is sent automatically or in the background. No private data or credentials are transmitted.

Can I use it on multiple sites?

Yes. Your API key works on any number of WordPress installations. Credits are shared across all sites under your account.

What happens if I run out of credits?

You will see a message indicating that you have no remaining credits. You can purchase additional credits or upgrade your plan at discovermetric.com/pricing.

What languages are supported?

The analysis works with articles in any language. The plugin interface is available in English, with translation support for additional languages via WordPress’s translation system (translate.wordpress.org).

I activated the plugin but I don’t see the Check button

Make sure you have configured your API key in the Discover Metric settings (admin sidebar). Also verify that the post type you are editing is enabled in the settings (by default, only “Post” is enabled).

The analysis is taking too long

The analysis typically takes 5–15 seconds depending on your article size. If it takes longer, check your server’s ability to make outbound HTTPS connections. Some hosting providers block external API calls — contact your host if this persists.

I get an error “Invalid API key”

Double-check that your API key starts with cd_ and that you copied it completely. You can validate your key in the Discover Metric settings page by clicking the “Validate” button.
